Ingredients
  • Organic rose petals (fresh)As many as you like–I used about 2 cups
  • Distilled waterJust enough to cover the rose petals
Instructions
  1. Remove petals from rose stems and rinse under lukewarm water to remove any residue.
  2. Place petals in large pot and add enough distilled water to just cover the petals (more than that will dilute the rosewater)
  3. Place pot on stove over medium-low heat and bring water to a simmer, then cover.
  4. Let simmer for 20-30 minutes or until petals have lost their color.
  5. Strain the rose petal water into a large bowl to separate the rosewater from the petals.
  6. Store rosewater in a glass jar. It will keep for several weeks in the refrigerator or up to one week on the counter.
  7. To make toner, simple take 1 tbsp of the rosewater and add 4 tbsp of distilled water. Place in a small spray bottle and shake gently to mix. To apply, spray directly on face or onto a cotton round then wipe gently on face.
Recipe Notes

There are various versions of preparing rosewater. Some use the distilled method, while others bring the water to a boil first, then simmer. I found the method  mentioned here to be most effective for my needs.
